Moving Lights 101

Moving Lights 101 discusses the types, uses, and terms behind moving or intelligent lighting for today's houses of worship in plain straightforward language. From the care and feeding of the equipment to the pro and cons of moving lights versus a conventional lighting rig. Points of discussion also include staff needs and congregational concerns. An automated fixture will be available for "exploration." This is a beginner to intermediate level tech course with no prior lighting experience necessary.

Video Serving: Real-time Visual Performance in Worship

Lighting for the Video Camera

Explore the difference between the eye and the camera, and learn why lighting is such a vital component in the production of great video. Whether you are in a conference room, on location, or in a church sanctuary, the basic tools and concepts are the same. By the end of this session you will be able to go out and create better video.

LED Lighting, Uses & Myths

Learn the ABC’s of LED’s. Take a look at the new and somewhat misunderstood use of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) as a light source, covering the basic science behind LED as illumination and an explanation in very simple terms of what LED’s can and more importantly can’t yet do to replace traditional light sources. You will meet "Evil Duck" and he will help with color rendering and color theory. The care and feeding of LED’s will be discussed along with fixture types and existing project reviews. This is an entry-level class for those interested in the technology to more advanced for those interested in the science. No prior lighting experience is necessary.

Defining the Role of Technical Director in Today's Contemporary Houses of Worship

Knowing how important the use of technical media tools are in today's worship experience, just as important is a leader that can not only drive the technical media area "technically", but one who can also build, sustain and nurture "spiritually" healthy technical teams. We will discuss the role that a Technical Director can, and needs to take to achieve success in bridging and supporting the word of God through the use of the technical tools and their teams. We will also discuss leadership qualities, wanted expectations from both the church and the Technical Director, salaries and team building musts.
