Vinten Vector 750 Pan/Tilt Head Scores STAR Award

Picture

Vinten, a Vitec Group brand, was awarded the prestigious STAR Award from “TV Technology Magazine” at the 2008 NAB convention for the company’s new Vector 750 pan and tilt head system.

To create the Vector 750 head, Vinten melded the proven functionality and durability of the company’s existing Vector 700 Standard and “H” versions of the head, merging the best of axial and cam technology, and incorporated them into the new system that yields the combined advantages of these designs.

The new head uses a groundbreaking counterbalance mechanism that does not use springs or cams. Instead, a system of mechanical linkages balances cameras with various center-of-gravity (COG) points, making adjustment simple and eliminating the need for time-consuming cam changes when altering the camera configuration. It retains the Vector 700’s smooth operation in both pan and tilt movements, and Vinten’s renowned infinite adjustability for both the balance and drag systems.

The Vector 750 features a COG range span of 80mm-250mm, which covers the full center of gravity range of both Vector 700 versions. In addition, the Vector 750 has an increased maximum payload of 165.3 lbs (75kg), allowing a greater use of camera accessories such as a talent monitor and spotlights. The inclusion of stainless steel internal components makes the Vector 750 even more durable and robust.

The 750 head provides a new and improved ergonomic slide plate mechanism, and includes higher output drag modules that yield increased available friction range for excellent control of heavier payloads. Also available is an optional side-mounted monitor bracket to accommodate mounting viewfinders on the side of the head.

The STAR Awards (Superior Technology Award Recipient) are designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the media industry. A panel of judges comprised of TV Technology editors and columnists nominate products and services exhibited at the NAB convention, examining technical applications and overall contribution to the industry.
