Tannoy Flex Muscles With Major UK Product Launches at PLASA
STAND D27
Pioneering loudspeaker manufacturer Tannoy makes a welcome return to the PLASA show after being absent for a couple of years. The company will be using the Earls’ Court extravaganza as the perfect platform for a first UK demonstration of their newest pro-audio product lines, VQ and QFlex, as well as exhibiting some of the existing V-Series loudspeaker range.
The new Tannoy VQ Series is a range of revolutionary loudspeakers designed for any application where precise directional control, outstanding sonic performance, and high SPL's are critical issues; such as large corporate AV systems, stadiums, large dance clubs, live concert halls, theatres, houses of worship and open-air venues. Utilising precision engineering and design, the VQ series can produce enough power and clarity to be used individually, maintaining your building's aesthetics, unlike line array solutions.
The VQ’s high sensitivity ensures exceptional SPL levels can be achieved with a very modest amount of amplifier power. As an example, the VQ 60 will produce 115dB for 1 Watt; and 138dB (144dB peak) for only 200 Watts of amplifier power.
With the Houses of Worship sector in mind during the development of VQ, Tannoy took special note of the specific requirements of this type of venue with regards to both performance and aesthetics. Tannoy’s Director of Business Development, Graham Hendry, further qualified VQ’s target market, “Through discussions with customers and consultants it soon became very obvious that the Tannoy VQ range had a much more diverse market appeal. VQ has already enjoyed a high profile install in one such alternate sector - at Ibiza’s premier dance club, Es Paradis, which has been winning plaudits from clubbers and DJs alike since the start of the summer season.”
VQ enjoyed a stunningly successful US launch earlier this Summer at June’s InfoComm2008 in Las Vegas. Some leading audio consultants and specifiers had exceptional praise for the new product including PMK Consultants’ David H. Stearn who commented,
“The majority of theater and auditorium venues require a loudspeaker, with full vocal range projection, at 120’. The Tannoy VQ series gives me the modular tools, power handling and true constant directivity, through the vocal range, to serve those clients.”
While leading House of Worship consultant, Michael R. Garrison of MGA, excitedly proclaimed,
“All of us at MGA were overwhelmed by Tannoy’s demo room presentation of the new VQ Series loudspeaker products. Tannoy has hit a grand-slam home run on this one!”
Not to be outdone by his US colleagues, Brock McGinnis of Canada’s premier full-service entertainment technology company, Westbury National Show Systems, had this to say after hearing VQ,
"Tannoy's new VQ speakers were the most market-changing audio product I heard at InfoComm. The pattern control seems perfect and the efficiency is incredible but Tannoy's real achievement is producing that much sheer SPL from a loudspeaker that still sounds and feels like a dual-concentric studio monitor."
The other big Tannoy product launch at PLASA is QFlex, a series of self-powered, digitally steerable loudspeaker arrays using ‘beam-steering’ DSP technology. By focusing the acoustical output in the target directions where it is needed Tannoy’s revolutionary new range is designed specifically to overcome intelligibility problems associated with highly reverberant surroundings. QFlex will satisfy a host of audio installation requirements such as airports and other transportation hubs, shopping malls, conference facilities, museums, houses of worship and many other locations with problematic acoustics. Now a part of the VNET range of products, this architecturally pleasing system from Tannoy integrates cutting edge DSP, network control and amplification to provide class-leading steering control (+/- 70 degrees) for not only extremely intelligible speech but also music reinforcement.
Tannoy Sales, Marketing and Engineering personnel will be on hand to demonstrate the innovative VQ and QFlex models and provide information about the rest of Tannoy’s versatile loudspeaker ranges.
If you’re planning to be at Earls’ Court for this 31st PLASA show, be sure to pay a visit to the Tannoy booth at Stand D27.
