NEW BOSE MODELER 6.6 AND MODELER PLUS 6.6 SOUND SYSTEM SOFTWARE

Enhanced Performance For Audio Designers

Bose Corporation has introduced Modeler 6.6 and Modeler Plus 6.6 sound system design software, upgrading the performance of its proprietary Modeler software tool that accurately predicts how a loudspeaker system will behave in a specific room or facility.

This new software offers improved interoperability with common CAD platforms, while providing faster, more accurate modeling of complex room geometries for a more streamlined or efficient sound system design process.

Featured in the Modeler 6.6 and Plus 6.6 upgrade is a new Modeler software plug-in for Google SketchUp. This plug-in allows designers to take a completed room model from Google SketchUp and transfer it to a Modeler model file via an export function. Once imported into Modeler software, the room model can be used to create a sound system design using the full complement of Modeler features and functions, such as predicting sound coverage, level, intelligibility and reflection properties.

Designers can now import 2-D and 3-D DXF files into Modeler 6.6 and Modeler Plus 6.6 software to leverage their existing 2-D and 3-D drawing applications in the design process. 2-D DXF files can be imported into Modeler 6.6 as a guide layer to assist with room model creation and design layout, while 3-D DXF files can be imported as a complete room model. Using a complete import function allows designers to specify the layers to import, drawing scale, and drawing orientation –- expediting the time required to prepare a sound system design.

New features help improve the accuracy of a room model without requiring modeling work and complex operations. This includes a new set of extrusion tools –- Extrude Surface, Extrude Rectangular Surface and Extrude Polygonal Surface –- for easily adding complex room features to a model, such as columns. In addition, doors, windows and absorptive panels can be added to wall surfaces in the model.

The Modeler 6.6 and Modeler Plus 6.6 upgrade continues to offer standard features from previous versions. Advanced 3-D visualization tools, like Camera View, lets users view the inside of the room model, conduct a virtual walkthrough of the space, or look at the room from any listener perspective. An easy-to-use array tool helps create loudspeaker arrays and view how the speaker cluster performs, and an RT60 matching engine uses measured reverberation data to adjust absorption coefficients for selected room materials. Users also can view speech intelligibility coverage maps that utilize either the latest 2003 STI standard or the 1988 STI standard.

Modeler Plus 6.6 software includes all the features of Modeler 6.6 software, with the added benefit of using the Auditioner playback system, a proprietary technology from Bose that lets users hear how a proposed sound system will perform prior to installation. This integrated system allows designers to produce acoustically accurate audio for the proposed solution once the design is complete. An audio driver provides a digital connection via USB to the Auditioner playback system and the ability to record the playback as a .wav file to archive sound system designs.

Both versions of the sound system software run on Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems. Using the proprietary Bose D2RΔSTIc (pronounced “drastic”) engine, Modeler software produces accurate coverage maps and acoustic calculations, enabling the designer to create a sound system specifically tailored for a particular space.

Modeler 6.6 sound system software is available to authorized Bose dealers worldwide. Modeler Plus 6.6 software is available only for trained and certified Bose dealers and professional audio consultants.
