Strong Super Trouper III Rivals Gladiator Followspot

Recent tests at Strong Entertainment Lighting show that compact followspot has the output of a xenon Gladiator III. Other Engineering improvements make the Super trouper III more user friendly and road worthy

OMAHA, NE (October 20, 2009) – Strong Entertainment Lighting. Tests conducted by Strong Entertainment Lighting proved what a few insiders already suspected. The popular Super Trouper II, using a high wattage switching power supply and a 3kw lamp produces an output comparable to the industry standard Strong Gladiator III.

Strong has released this major modification as a new product: the Super Trouper Mark III, and will display it at the upcoming LDI show in Orlando.

Prior to conducting formal tests, Strong learned that a number of their customers had successfully modified Super Trouper II’s to accept a 3kw lamp. These users included rental houses on both coasts and Sea World, as well as customers in Australia.

“The original cooling system was so well designed that a 50% increase of the lamp house heat load appeared to have no adverse effect,” said Paul Rabinovitz, the Lighting Vice President at Strong. He continued to explain, “So after a few tests to confirm the 3,000 watt version’s viability, what we did was boost the cooling system a little more, and created an entirely new followspot.”

While generating the more than two million (2,000,000) beam candlepower that is characteristic of a Gladiator III, the new Super Trouper III comes in a much smaller package. Its length is 27 ½” (70 cm) shorter and the followspot and stand weighs 424 pounds (192 kg) less than the Gladiator III.

Yet it will cost about the same as a new Gladiator III.

Additional improvements include the changes to the display on the rear of the followspot from a sophisticated, but overly sensitive digital unit, to simple and far more durable analog meters. The new meters provide amperage, voltage and lamp hour information. Current production of Super Trouper II and Gladiator IV followspots also include the new analog meters.

Strong offers conversion kits to those customers who wish to upgrade to the new meter design or cooling system.

The entire product line from Strong Entertainment Lighting is distributed through its international network of Dealers. In the United States, Strong Dealers and Customers are further supported by a network of more than thirty Manufacturer’s Representatives.
