PRODUCT SHOWCASED at TFWM: ProPresenter and ProVideoPlayer (PVP)

What is ProPresenter and what's new about version 3.0?

For over six years, ProPresenter has been the preferred lyric presentation system for churches and ministries around the world. Now with a fresh new look and incredible new video engine, ProPresenter 3 has never been easier or more spectacular. ProPresenter 3 has been completely re-written from the ground up and is now a Universal binary which means it fully supports both PowerPC as well as Intel processor Macs natively. Thus, it's very fast and very responsive. The whole program is scalable to adjust to any size display and allows for slides and backgrounds to grow or shrink easily. This looks beautiful on all those new Macs with high-resolution displays and comes in very handy when you want to see a lot of slides or clips at one time. The output screen (secondary display) is capable of supporting High-definition text or video (up to 1280x1024).

Video Playback

Video playback has never been better as we've incorporated the video playback engine of ProVideoPlayer into the new ProPresenter. Now you get gorgeous, high-quality cross-dissolves between backgrounds and text displayed over backgrounds. Whether you're using background video images or presentation videos, you'll find ProPresenter's video playback functionality is outstanding. Anything you can play in QuickTime Player can be played smoothly and reliably within ProPresenter. Unlike some of our competitors, you can switch video backgrounds as often as you wish within a song, and even switch them dynamically on the fly!

Plus, when playing back foreground presentation videos, the operator has accurate elapsed and remaining time indicators to make the smoothest transition possible to the next cue of your program. Foreground videos are different than background videos in that they may contain an audio track, will remove any text overlay, and don't loop. They are depicted by the movie camera icon in the top left of the slide.

Text editing and spell check

Editing text is easier than ever before with in-line slide editing. This means you can either go to the slide editor to make changes OR right-click on any slide and edit the text within it directly (eliminating the need to leave Presenter mode). With this also comes spell-checking and a greatly enhanced playlist and library which always remain present for quick program changes. Making global changes to font, size, color, etc. of a whole song or multiple songs is a snap and nearly instant!

Importing and Exporting

Adding songs to your library should be quick and painless, so ProPresenter makes use of two different methods of importing song lyrics fast. You can import text files individually as you always have, or as a batch into ProPresenter 3. The ability to import directly from the clipboard is also still available. Simply look-up the lyrics from any song on the Internet, whether through SongSelect or any other website. Just select the text of the song in your Internet browser, switch to ProPresenter and select \"Presentation from Clipboard\" from the File menu. Every line of text will automatically be imported as its own slide. In addition, if there are labels in the song for Verse, Chorus, or Bridge, these will automatically be interpreted by ProPresenter as slide labels for easy identification in your presentations. Version 3.0 adds the ability to label one or more slides with a particular color for grouping together common portions of a song (i.e. chorus, bridge, etc.) for easy visual identification.

On a side note, the next version of Mac OSX, called Leopard, has indicated deeper support for the Keynote file format. Should this rumor be true, you can be certain we will implement support for it in ProPresenter as quick as possible.

Background cues and Foreign Languages

The new Pro allows you to cue a particular background when clicking on a slide. This provides the ability to pre-program a song or presentation so the operator, who is busy following the words being sung, doesn't have to worry about doing this. Perfect for volunteers!

In addition, there is full support for double-byte characters which allows the display of languages such as Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, and others. Also pictured is the ability for a slide to have a label, color, or both.

PowerPoint and/or Keynote

How do I import PowerPoint or Keynote slide presentations? Both programs support exporting a presentation into a sequence of JPEG images. Once this is done, you can import all the images into a ProPresenter presentation as \"Foreground\" slides. Transitions and slide will be lost, but this works very well for integrating a slide show directly in ProPresenter.

An alternative to this would be to simply run either Keynote or PowerPoint concurrently and simply switch between the two applications on-the-fly. ProPresenter works great with other applications, so you can feel confident that running both on the same system will not cause any stability concerns. The added benefit of doing it in this manner is that you will have the ability to edit and your slide show will run exactly as expected. After all, what runs a Keynote or PowerPoint presentation better than application that created it? (see our ProPresenter FAQs page for more information)

On a side note, the next version of Mac OSX, called Leopard, has indicated deeper support for the Keynote file format (programming API). Should this rumor be true, you can be certain we will implement support for it in ProPresenter as quickly as possible.

Song Automation

Picture

Now you can add an audio track to a song and sequence the slides of that song to the attached audio track! A new audio tab has been created where all audio clips will be stored. As an added bonus, sound effects can also be stored and triggered here to create foley functionality (such as funny noises, laughter track, door slam, etc. - as denoted by the pink speaker icon vs. the green tune icon).

This is a fantastic solution for small churches that do not have access to enough musicians to have a live band or any environment that has worship, but no live band, such as a children's program. Our previous version of ProPresenter had this feature and now our current version does too, only better than before.

What is ProVideoPlayer?

Designed to enhance live staging events such as concerts, trade show booths, conferences, or church services, ProVideoPlayer manages an unlimited amount of clips in an unlimited number of playlists and gives a tremendous amount of control to the playback of these video clips including Hue, Brightness, Saturation, Start/Stop times, and speed, either on a global or per-clip basis. Whether for a special occasion or as a fixed installation, PVP can enhance your productions with video in a manner that will have your audience talking.

Picture

ProVideoPlayer (PVP) allows you to import your entire video clip library into a simple interface and mix them in real time to create impactful video stage presentations. With an easy to use intuitive interface, you can build multiple play lists to prepare for any event. From within PVP, you can modify visual, speed, and playback parameters of your videos without effecting the original files. You can set clips to transition automatically, loop, or even manually cross-fade one video to another with our virtual T-bar.

The software is uncluttered and simple to use and manage. It runs exclusively on Mac OS X and is a Universal binary, meaning it will run optimally on Macs built with the new Intel processors or PowerPC processors.

Picture

ProVideoPlayer is also multi-resolution, meaning you can run both standard definition video as well as high-definition video (with the HD version of the software) as they did at Catalyst 2005 and the Chris Tomlin Indescribable tour.

Multi-Screen Presentations

ProVideoPlayer offers the unique ability to synchronize video playback across multiple machines. By putting multiple PVP machines on your network, one Master PVP machine can control multiple Slave machines. Plugging each computer into its own projector creates a dynamic staging experience that is hard to match... we're talking video backdrops behind your performers that span the entire stage!

Picture

Gulfstream Aerospace used this functionality to create a seven-screen multi-visual experience in their trade-show booth utilizing a PowerMac G4 and seven Mac minis. Grid Mapping and Tiling

ProVideoPlayer also offers two unique features that allow for more creative and flexible implementations of PVP - Grid Mapping and Tiling.

Picture

In Grid Mapping, the entire video is played, but only the designated portion is sent to the display. This setting is configured on-the-fly in the \"Screen\" preferences panel. Grid Mapping is useful in multi-screen situations because you can load the same video on each machine. Then configure each system to play only their respective segment. This prevents having to cut up every clip appropriately in post production which saves a great deal of time.

In Tiling, the entire video is played, but tiled across the display in accordance with its respective grid setting. This setting is also configured on-the-fly in the \"Screen\" preferences panel. Tiling can also be set on a per clip basis.
